Hey y’all. As our original members will be aware, we began as a Jordan Peterson discussion group five years ago. While we changed our focus to cancel culture and how to resist it, we like to revisit our roots occasionally.So for November’s meetup, we will be looking at Jordan Peterson’s recent statements about the Israel/Hamas conflict.
Dr Peterson has been criticized by some for comments supporting Israel in the immediate aftermath of the October 7th attack by Hamas, and then criticized by others for an article he wrote titled, “Why I Am Pro-Muslim: but Anti-Thug.”
We will use Peterson’s comments as a starting point to discuss both the current hostilities along with the roots/history of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
We are very aware that opinions on this topic are passionately held. We request that attendees be respectful of differing views, try to be as measured as possible when expressing your own, and come with a spirit of good faith and openness to be challenged. Hopefully between us, we may shed some light on the situation and come to a more informed view.
We’re a friendly, welcoming bunch, and plan to continue that tradition! Grab a drink at the bar and come upstairs for some lively, open and honest chat. Decency, manners and kindness are our “house rules.” We don’t charge for our events but we do ask for a small cash donation when arriving to help offset the cost of the venue & Meetup.
