What IS Postmodernism…and why should you care.
Postmodernism is blamed for the idea that there is no such thing as Truth. There is only ‘your truth’ or ‘my truth.’ Everything seems to be relative. What is true or acceptable is now based upon the identity of the person. For example, in this new hierarchy, the white heterosexual male is sat at the bottom of the heap due to his supposed inherent privilege no matter his background or situation…and cancel culture emerges out of these distorted priorities in its closing down of free speech.
Postmodernism is even seen as ‘fun,’ in films such as Bladerunner, Blue Velvet and Pulp Fiction. So, is postmodernism all bad?
Not at all. This talk will attempt to set out a basic understanding of postmodernism and consider the merits of postmodernism and how a better understanding of it will allow us to recognise that postmodern philosophies have actually been distorted by the woke in their efforts to impose a top-down authoritarian system upon the rest of us. The talk will be given during the first hour and an open discussion will proceed during the second hour.
