Hey y’all! For October’s Meetup, we will be featuring guest speaker Dr Caroline Kaye. Dr Kaye holds an interdisciplinary PhD in Art History with Religious and Biblical studies. She also has graduate qualifications in Fine Art and Religions and Theology in addition to two MAs in Screen Studies and Religions and Theology. She is also a successful artist whose work is held in a number of private collections and writes the Substack, The Sideways Thinker. thesidewaysthinker.substack.com
Increasingly, the general public is confronted with politics when most folks just want to look at, and enjoy publicly funded artwork. Why is this happening? Dr Kaye will be addressing the politics of Art, art galleries and art museums. Is it possible, or even desirable, to separate Art from politics? This talk invites the questions: what exactly is the role of the art gallery? And what does this role mean for art, artists and art education? After her talk, the floor will open for questions, discussion & debate.
Come join the CCC group for stimulating and fresh conversation and debate! We’re a friendly, welcoming bunch. Grab a drink at the bar and come upstairs for some lively, open and honest chat. All good faith opinions will be welcomed and respected. We don’t charge for our events but we do ask for a small donation when arriving to help offset the cost of the venue & Meetup.
